We are all acutely aware that football is not high on everyone’s priority list at the moment, however we must at least plan for the future and be ready for the 2020/21 season start whenever that may be.
The club is delighted to confirm that manager Paul Froude will be in charge of the 1st team along with assistant Danny Gaze, physio Paige Burrows and Steve Giles.
Manager Froude had this to say on the cancelled 2019/20 season and the future:
“The voiding of the season was really unfortunate, Danny and I felt the lads were really enjoying themselves and were buying into what we were trying to do. That said we saw enough over the games that were played to know we have some talented exciting players at the club”
“We will look to bring in local players as and when the opportunities arise. We are hoping the strengthen the squad by 3 or 4 players, plus there is a talented group of players already at the club playing in our reserve and development teams that I will be looking to give opportunities to”
“There are some really strong teams in the Western League, we believe our squad will be good enough to compete at the top end of the table, this is our aim as on our day we can beat anyone”
Assistant Danny Gaze added:
“When the opportunity arose to step up to assistant manager it wasn’t a difficult decision to accept, it feels a natural step for me going into management”
“Buckland is an amazing club which I have been lucky enough to spend many of my playing days at, so to be able to be part of the management team here is something I feel very priviledged to do”
“Although I’ll still register as a player I will be looking to spend more time in the dugout and cant wait to get started. Paul and I have a great relationship and we are are both very excited about taking this group of players plus a few additions into the new season”
