Open Letter – Adam Castle, Director of Football

On behalf of Buckland Athletic Football Club I would like to thank all our management, players, volunteers, supporters and sponsors for all your loyal commitment and support over the course of the now voided 2019/20 season. No one could have predicted the way this season has gone, we’ve seen management changes, players coming and going, the unprecedented cancelling and voiding of all games due to the COVID-19 outbreak and of course we very sadly said goodbye to our beloved chairman Roy.

However as a club we can assure all our supporters that we will be back when permitted, stronger and more determined than ever to keep pushing our great club forward. Due to our sustainable commercial activities and our very loyal group of local business sponsors we are a club which is on a very sound financial footing. The loss of the commercial boost of numerous home games is of course frustrating in many ways, but it is by no way anywhere near the hardship that many families are going through up and down the country and indeed across the world.

It is our belief that The Football Association has taken the only realistic option available to them in voiding the season given the amount of football still to be played across the many leagues throughout grassroots football in the UK, like many clubs we had teams in the running for league titles and cups across all our age groups both adult and junior, male and female.

In the meantime I would encourage all of you to follow the government advice and stay at home and stay safe, and we will see you back at Homers Heath in the very near future cheering on the boys and girls in Yellow.

Take Care
