Buckland Athletic FC are pleased to confirm that former Stoke Gabriel and Newton Abbot Spurs manager Paul Froude has been appointed 1st Team Manager and will take charge of this coming weekend’s home fixture vs Odd Down (Bath). Paul will be assisted by experienced defender Danny Gaze along with current assistant Steve Giles, Paige Burrows will continue as club physiotherapist.
Froude commented “I have fond memories of my time playing for Buckland, there were a number of reasons the position appealed to me, the opportunity to manage at a higher level, the clubs facilities are first class and Buckland have always been a club with the ambition to move forward, all these factors made my decison a relativley simple one”
he also added “I’m very excited to be working with such a talented group of players, some of whom I already know well, our target for the season is to compete for a top 6 finish, there are still plenty of games to play for us to make this a realistic target, the lads have done fantastic to reach the last 32 in the FA Vase, however we want to go further than this and will focus on the next round when the time comes. Longer term we want to build a team around exciting younger players that people want to come and watch”
The club would like to thank Neil Montandon for all his hard work and dedication to the 1st team since his appointment as assistant manager last summer, Neil has done a great job along with Director of Football, Adam Castle in stabilising the squad after an indifferent start to the season.
