Reserves Beat Watcombe and 3rd Team March On In The Cup

South Devon League Premier Division

Watcombe Wanderers 0-2 Buckland Athletic Reserves

The reserves were back in league action last weeked with the short visit to a Watcombe Wanderers side who were unbeaten at home so far this season.

Buckland inspired by Nick Hayman (Pictured) in defence started the game shooting down the slope and with a gale force wind behind them which proved troubling for both sides throughout the game, the first chance of the game fell to James moxon who spurned a great opportunity to put Buckland ahead when he failed to connect with a low cross from the right.

With Watcombe only managing to clear the halfway line a couple of times in the half Buckland failed to use the wind advantage to their benefit and the two sides went in level at Half time 0-0

Within 10 minutes of the second half and after a neat passage of play Sam Dicken was released down the right wing where he managed to get a low cross in to the back post where Kofi Shaw was waiting to finish into the back to the net (1-0 Buckland)

5 minutes after the goal watcombe were reduced to 10 men when the home team skipper was sent off for a dangerous tackle on Sam Dicken.

Watcombe seemed to up their game when reduced to 10 men and had a good spell of possession but the Buckland defence stood firm and were dealing with the wind better than the home side were in the first half, 10 minutes from time Kofi Shaw found himself in the oppositions penalty area where his low cross was deflected into the net by a home defender to make the score 2-0 to Buckland and seal a good win in testing conditions
