Reserves Lose Unbeaten Record, 3rd Team Extend Winning Run

South Devon Premier Division

East Allington 2 – 1 Buckland Athletic Reserves

The reserves travelled down to play an East Allington side who were looking to avenge defeat in the Herald cup a few weeks back.

Buckland started the brighter of the 2 teams and looked to have earned a penalty after 25 minutes when Sam Dicken was bought down in the area but the referee waved play on much to the surprise of many people in the ground, 5 minutes later East Allington found themselves ahead when a free kick from wide found the head of an East Allington midfielder who made no mistake in giving the home side the lead.

East Allington grew into the game and doubled there lead in the 40th minute when a long ball down the left hand side was crossed in to the box where the home side striker managed to get in front the Buckland defender to make the score 2.0 going into half time.

Buckland made changes at Half time trying to get back in the game but the home defence stood strong with chances coming few and far between.

East Allington were looking to get a 3rd goal and wasted several chances to kill the game off which nearly came back to haunt them when in the 88th minute Kofi Shaw struck a fine volley from the edge of the area to give Buckland hope of salvaging something from the game with minutes to spare.

The home side were able to see the game out and inflict the first defeat of the season on the reserves who deserved nothing from the game based on this performance
